It’s the Girls Rock Institute of Portland Oregon's Fall, Winter and Spring Terms. A non- profit organization that builds girls self esteem through music creation and performance. It provides technical training and workshops. It's a rock ‘n’ roll boot camp for Girls that creates leadership opportunities, according to their mission statement, by cultivating a supportive community of peers and mentors that encourages social change and the development of life skills. It’s about creating positive female role models and helping to eliminate sexism thereby empowering girls and creating social change.
Run by a devoted staff of volunteers, female instructors, coaches, band managers and mentors that share experiences and skills in the field of music with students, campers and interns who are members. These volunteers provide examples of leadership, team work and self direction. Rock ‘N’ Roll Camp for girls wants to eradicate the limiting myths about music and gender. They want to show that through the examples of coaches and mentors who exhibit positive examples and experiences that every genre of music from the heaviest to the most delicate and every technical job or creative endeavor in the industry is attainable to any girls or women who wants to explore it.
